How to Draw Spyro's Head

Description

Okay here we go.

This was honestly harder for me than just drawing his head but this is what I came up with and It actually looks better than what I normally do so that’s a good thing I guess.
Any right and lefts mentioned are not Spyro’s right and left they are yours.

Here we go.

1: I selected the pose I wanted to draw, in this case his new T.E.N stance, and started with the basic oval shape for his head.

2: Then I added the guidelines that help keep eyes, noses, mouths… etc. in line with one another, according to (as razz said) which way he was staring.

3: Then I made a slightly tilted rectangle with rounded edges about 2/3ds of the way down the left side of his face for the nose. From the top right corner of that rectangle I drew a big oval for his eye. On the left side I started an oval then cut it off halfway to give him that cocky look.

4: I then added the giant freaking eyebrows by following the curve of his eyes, with his left eyebrow being like a horizontal question mark.
His first spike is started with a V shape with the point of the V starting from the vertical guideline next to his right eyebrow. Then I made a longer upside-down V that connects with the first V. Then make a VERY flat backwards L for his spike leather.

5: At this point I added the horns. Gawd I don’t know how to walk anyone through this. This is the hardest part for me, but I’m just pathetic that way. So here we go. For the first part I made a half-oval lump on the outside of both the right and left side of his head, next to his right eyebrow and above his left. … Wow that didn’t make any sense. On the left horn I added another small lump from the bottom of the first to the top of his eyebrow. I don’t know why, that’s just how it looks. Then on top of the first left lump I made an upside-down V. That really doesn’t make any sense either.
On his right horn I added a longer, slightly slimmer lump on an oblique angle which buds an even longer, even slimmer horizontal lump with yet another upside-down V on the top of its tip… I am so sorry. I don’t even understand what I just wrote. I suppose drawing it and writing it are 2 completely different things.
I also added the second spike the same way I made the first only without the first V.

6: Then I added his nostrils. The right being a simple circle in the top right corner of the nose and the left an oval in the top left corner of his nose.
Then came the mouth. First I made a short line from the bottom right corner of his nose that curved upward. From that came an almost flat W that nearly stretched right up to the back of the very first oval. His top right tooth also started from the bottom right of his nose with a line that connected to a small V that ended at the bottom of the first bowl of the W. Then above the end of the W I started a backwards horizontal J that ended just below the bottom right corner of his nose. (Note: The bowl of the J should go outside the original oval) From there I made a curved line that connected the end of the J with the bottom left corner of his nose. I then made a parallel line just above that one that connected with his tooth rather than the J. From there I added his lower teeth. By this point it was starting to look like Spyro.

7: Then the eyes, just two small ovals with two smaller circles in each, one circle for the shine and the other for the pupil.

8: Finally I got rid of all the extra lines and made corrections. This would be the time to add details such as spots, shading, slashes…

“But Afronova, That doesn’t look like your art at all.” you’re saying.

Ask yourself, would you really want it to?

Okay making this stupid description was harder than................. something hard.

NAWT ME!

***** PLEASE NOTE! *****

I do not use the guidelines in the same manner as others, so this may be a little confusing.
I use the lines for distance measurement, size measurement and comparison. That is how they are used in this image.

If this is an issue for you, do not use it. Simple as that
